Crying - Speak out and be HeardTell Us Your Story

Local and national research shows that dating violence among teens is very common. In fact, nearly half of teens who participated in focus groups in Maricopa County in 2006 reported that they, or someone they knew, had been involved in a violent dating relationship.

It is also clear that teens feel most comfortable talking to their peers about these issues. They will go to a trusted friend before anyone else – even their own parents. Teens like to hear from people their own age who have been through similar experiences, and who can provide needed advice and support.

If you have experienced dating violence, here is an opportunity to share your story with teens so they will know they are not alone. We will collect stories over the next several months and post at least some of them here. We are looking for stories of personal experience, your thoughts, and your advice to teens who may be struggling with a violent personal relationship.

According to Arizona State Law, we are required to report current abuse when we receive identifying information, such as your name, in these submissions. Providing your age and/or email address will not result in reporting, unless your full name is listed in your email address. Your privacy is important to us and we will not post any identifying information with the stories.
